representative munira abdullahi

Munira Yasin Abdullahi is a Somali American who was born in a refugee camp in Kenya. Her family moved to the United States around 1997 settling in Ohio. She began her public service career working in a MAS center advocating for and promoting youth development, leadership, and community service. Munira has worked as the MAS Columbus Youth Director on and off since 2012. During that time she also went on to attend the Ohio State University and attain a degree in Political Science and International Relations.

Munira took the next step in serving her community by running for office in 2022. She is now the first Muslim woman to be an Ohio State Representative. She is the eldest of 9 children, 8 of them being girls! Her hobbies include weightlifting, martial arts, reading, and soccer. Munira is excited to serve on the 135th GA of the Ohio House of Representatives and continue her passion and commitment to community work as the representative of OH-D9.
